During the 2025-2026 school year, we created impactful demo projects surrounding our core departments of Biology, Entertainment, Real Estate, Marketing, and Finance, all with an intersection of Artificial Intelligence. Here at Marshall Artificial Intelligence Association, we innovate.

Our Spring 2025 Demo Project was training a machine learning model to predict arrhythmia and heart disease by taking in time series ECG (electrocardiogram) data that records the electrical activity of the heart. On the business side, we conducted market research and gauged financial and ethical impacts.
Entertainment
In Fall 2025, the Entertainment Department built Stanza: an indie-music marketplace that brings together independent artists and matches their songs to recurring student activities. By aligning music to the natural rhythms of campus life, Stanza helps students discover new music while staying immersed and engaged in whatever they’re doing. Collaborating with four current student musicians, we narrowed down 21 songs released across four genres into task-based recommendations designed for driving, studying, relaxing, and more. Users simply log in to their Apple Music account through Stanza, select the activity they want music for, and our algorithm analyzes student tracks that are similar to their liked/favorite songs. With a new playlist generated in seconds, listeners discover new music, and independent musicians get local exposure to grow their audience.
During Spring 2025, the AI Real Estate Cohort collected data from the 48 largest REITs, building a comprehensive dataset of industry leaders. Using this information, we analyzed correlations across key financial and operational inputs to better predict the creditworthiness of both REITs and their direct assets.
Finance
Hi, this is Penny! Financial fraud and scams are on the rise, primarily affecting the elderly population. To this end, we created Penny! Penny is a real-time financial fraud detection system for nursing home residents that monitors calls and emails. If a scam is detected, the GPIO stoplight LEDs on the Raspberry Pi alert the user, a voice agent on the Pi guides the resident on the next steps, and a synchronous iOS app provides call log information to the nursing home workers and steps to intervene. We were honored that Penny was recognized by multiple nursing home facilities and won first place at the MAIA demo day!
